Regional and Industry Competitive Advantage

Regional and Industry Competitive Advantage

This week, you will prepare a research proposal about regional and industry competitive advantage using scholarly articles and other sources. Critically evaluate the research and include the following in your proposal:

Begin by describing Porter’s theory of competitive advantage paraphrased from several scholarly sources.
Discuss the concept of clusters as related to Porter’s theory of competitive advantage using several scholarly sources.
Consider the possibility of developing a dissertation research project in this area.
Use the NCU library’s ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global search function (under Dissertation Resources, located in the Research Resources toolbar on the library’s home page) to identify a recent business dissertation (within the last five years) that researched the competitive advantage of industry. Read the abstract and other parts of the dissertation to gain a basic understanding of what was done in the study and the results the research achieved.Read the dissertation’s suggestions for future research (often simply referred to as Future research) that is typically in the last chapter of the dissertation.
Write a mini-research proposal (about two pages of the overall length requirement) based on the dissertation author’s suggestions. Briefly describe the dissertation you read, write a statement of the problem you will research based on the author’s suggestion, and write 1-2 research questions your study will investigate.
You do not need to develop anything beyond that, such as hypotheses or a methodology. If you need information on developing a problem statement or research questions, please visit the Dissertation Center provided by the Center for Teaching and Learning within the section titled Research.

Total Length: 5-7 pages, not including title and reference pages

References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly resources.

The completed assignment should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. The content should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards
