Task: “Strengths Weekā€

‘Character strengths’ are a key area in positive psychology, in which managers and employees can develop their self-awareness and skills for more positive individual and workplace outcomes, and greater resilience and flourishing. Th project is designed to allow you to explore and engage with your own character strengths at a more in-depth level by developing both a theoretical and applied understanding of them, in the context of major disruption including the widespread bushfires in Australia and global COVID-19 outbreak.Aim: The aim of this assignment is to promote self-reflection and mindfulness by identifying areas of personal strength a building positive self-perception. While it concentrates on your top ‘character strengths’, known as ā€˜signature strengthsā€™, i should be recognised that ā€˜less ideal or not so positiveā€™ moments are integral to developing a picture of oneā€™s self and in building resilience. Hence, this assignment should not be viewed as the entire self-portrait, even though it is a critical component of self-esteemā€¦

PART A: (60%) Write a critical review of the literature on positive psychology and strengths; and

A literature review is a description of the literature relevant to a particular field or topic. It is a critical assessment of the relevant literature and the effective evaluation of at least five articles in relation to the topic being considered

Ā Start broadly in your introduction, introducing your topic (Positive Psychology, Strengths). In the body of your literature review flesh out some of the key issues in your topic. Here you can compare and critique the different ideas being put forward in the articles, looking for any points of difference or issues you may have and backing this up with one or more of the articles. In the conclusion bring together the key points that have come out of your review.

PART A CRITICAL LITERATURE REVIEW using at least five journal articles or book chapters from reputable sources. You can start with the readings from Week 2, but you are expected to add to these including at least one article that applies a critique to the topics of positive psychology and character strengths.

Provide an overview of the theory and development of character strengths and its role in positive psychology, referencin major theorists. Choose some key points to discuss using all the papers you have read. Compare and contrast the arguments and assumptions in the different articles and provide a critique. Highlight the strengths and weaknesses of th theory. You may wish to source articles that concentrate on one or two of your ā€œsignature strengthsā€.

References: (not included in the word count) At the end of your assignment, provide a reference list of your reference according to UTS Harvard OR APA 7 referencing conventions. You may refer to the library website for referencing guidelines and keep to the one referencing style!

Layout: Your report should be formatted for A4 paper size, with double-spaced text and 2.5 centimetre margins. The text should be in a 12-point Times New Roman font and left-aligned. Pages should be numbered, with the numbers appearing in the bottom right-hand corner of the pages.
