The Responsibilities of Governments to their People Essay
Governments are basically institutions set in place to safeguard the interests of the citizens. I think that governments owe their people protection and decent lives. Governments should ensure the safety and security of all citizens. They should work towards enhancing the well-being of the citizens. The roles and responsibilities of the government are well outlined in their respective constitutions, and all of them reinforce the provision of security and promotion of well-being. Governments owe their people these things because both the people elected and nominated to the government are supposed to advocate on behalf of the people. The governments hold a lot of power, which should be utilized to provide for and protect all citizens. In the increasingly unequal societies, many people face threats, perhaps due to their vulnerability. It is the role of the government to empower these people and eliminate all forms of exploitation. All this is done by setting up and implementing good policies.
Texas is among the leading states in the United States in the provision of social amenities. The state has set up numerous standard education and health facilities as well as transport infrastructure to cater for the well-being of her citizens. Thus, I think that the stateās government is concerned with enhancing the lifestyles of her people. Although the state is not among the safest in the United States, it hosts some of the safest cities in the country. The state government has to put more efforts in enhancing security in some cities. I believe that the United Statesā government does so well, promoting the security and the well-being of her citizens. The country has some of the best policies globally, which promote peaceful and harmonious living as well as peopleās well-being.
