1-Task details:
This assessment task focuses on critical appraisal of an epidemiological study published in a peer-reviewed journal article. The purpose of this assessment item is to give students an introduction to the appraisal of epidemiological studies.
Task
You will need to use the correct JBI critical appraisal tool (https://joannabriggs.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/JBI_Critical_Appraisal-Checklist_for_Cohort_Studies2017_0.pdf (Links to an external site.)) and answer question 1 . (ie Yes, No, Unclear or Not Applicable). Also make sure you use appropriate epidemiological language. For example, if you have concerns about measurement error, indicate what type of measurement error you have identified (eg, non-differential misclassification error) and the effects on the study’s results and validity.In your answer, you will also need to answer the following questions:
- what was the research question and is the study design the most appropriate?
- based on items 1 to 5 of the critical appraisal checklist, do you have any concerns about the internal validity of the study?
Make sure that you justify your answers appropriately.

For example, if you have concerns about measurement error, indicate what type of measurement error you have identified (eg, non-differential misclassification error) and the effects on the study’s results and validity.
