The case study analysis shows that the three people use different ways to manage their emotions. Louise Damian focuses on making her patients happy as a way of dealing with her emotions. For example, Damian would create positive emotions on her patients to accelerate their healing. Lisa Salvatore appears to have adapted to trauma and high stress, and she deals with her emotions by crying secretly. Anil Shandil is an American Army medic and manages his emotions by showing respect to all patients in irrespective of their origins. For example, Shandil shows compassion to Iraq detainees that have been held captive by the US military (McShane & Von Glinow, 2013, p. 124). Even though these people face different job situations that call for different methods of managing their stresses, Damian and Shandil appear to have best techniques for managing their emotions. The two people emotion management techniques help in hiding their emotional conditions while at the workplace. Salvatore technique of dealing with her stress is likely to be noticed while at the work because it may be difficult to control her tears.The responsibilities of the nurses and medics are to provide effective treatment to their patients. Alternatively, they provide patients with both physical and emotional care to help them recover very fast. Additionally, some patients suffer from very severe injuries that contribute to emotions as illustrated by Salvatore and Shandil. Therefore, there will be a need to help them to manage their emotions. Damian create amazing moments, for example, she organized for an event for the cancer patient who wanted travel back to Mexico (McShane & Von Glinow, 2013, p. 123). Damian’s initiatives help patients to reduce their stress levels. Shandil applies the concept of love and care while offering treatment to all patients irrespective of their backgrounds.
The stress as mentioned in the case study occurs as result of a meeting with very sick or seriously injured patients who the nurse and medics are supposed to provide care and do their best to save their lives. Stress among the nurses and medics can result in outcomes such as frustrations, burnouts, trauma relate-disorders and job dissatisfaction. The three people mentioned in the case study can overcome work-related stresses by exercising regularly, taking time to relax and finding positive things in their patients that can make them happy.
