The company ECOPRO was founded in 1987 to facilitate the production and the distribution of products from biological agriculture. With its know-how, the company is currently the European leader for organic fruits and vegetables.

Since its creation ECOPRO has developed its activities first in West Midlands then in the rest of the UK, followed by Europe and Africa. This triple local, national and international dimension relies on sites and teams based in six regions of the world to accompany farmers and to sell the best of organic production.

ECOPRO has 220 employees in the UK, Belgium, Morocco and Togo and today a full range of fruit and vegetables 100% organic. It represents over 1,000 farmers – large and small – in the world, serving nearly 850 customers (distributors, wholesalers, processors, restaurants …) in Europe. ECOPRO achieved in 2022 a turnover of 83 million GBP for a volume of 58,200 tonnes of organic fruits and vegetables.

As part of its activities of organic fruit import, ECOPRO has been working several years with a cooperative producing grapes in Puglia region in Italy: FELICE & FIGLI S.r.l. (FEF).The cooperative owns a fruit preparation station located in Latiano (VIA TORRE SANTA SUSANNA 189, 72022 LATIANO (BR). This station has packing and palletisation services.

ECOPRO Is seeking to appoint Contractors for supply and delivery of International Logistics Services on a regular basis. This Invitation to Tender represents an opportunity for Tenderers to develop long term key partnership with ECOPRO, in developing the strategy of the supply of import services for perishable products.

Early in 2020, the UK government ran a consultation on proposals to establish Freeports across the UK. It outlined the government’s proposals covering tax, customs, planning and encouraging innovation, and asked for views. ECOPRO is asking each bidder to write a report answering the following questions:

1 – Import and Storage: which port(s) in Europe should be chosen as the main entry point(s) for its new Grapes Supply Chain. The choice should be informed by a thorough research and should consider the potential use of a, or, several Freeports and decide on which National Distribution Centre to use. More than one NDC can be used. The Italian supply will start in July until October. ECOPRO will also source grapes from other available suppliers in the EU and outside.

The NDC(s) should operate 24 hours per day / 7 days per week. The NDC(s) should be open, and all deliveries continue to be made on Public Holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
